Soul Survivor

Finding passion and purpose in the dry places.
Author: Mike Pilavachi

In his heart-searching book, Mike Pilavachi brings to mind an issue that contemporary Christians do not want to address because it is one that involves one of man’s greatest fears - pain.

The spiritual desert according to Mike Pilavachi is a spiritual place where God takes us to purify and refine us for the purposes and plans he has for us. Physically speaking, this spiritual training could take years and is centered around the emotional, intellectual and mental states of the individual.

The book soul survivor was written to let Christians know that with a all the prosperity teaching going on in the church today, that the desert is the place to be and should be desired by all Christians. It goes on to explain with biblical backups that it is in the refining pain we undergo in the desert that we find God’s purpose and plan for us, that we learn to persevere and that we go on a deeper level in our relationship with Christ. The desert is a place with no distractions, few oases and a place where the sun bakes our skin. It is a place therefore, where we learn to completely depend and lean on God.

The American Prophecies:
Ancient Scriptures Reveal Our Nation’s Future
Author: Michael D. Evans
Hardback: 312 pages
Publisher: Warner Faith, Time Warner Book Group (2004)
ISBN: 0-446-52252-X

The author’s premise for the book is that “the United States has (politically) married two brothers, both descendants of Abraham; One marriage, to Isaac, used to control countries around Israel, the other marriage to Ishmael, of convenience for oil.”

The author cites leaders in Israel, Europe and the United States with strong opinions on the state of Israel, her unique position in the world, and history of blessing from God. Step by step, he develops the idea that each president who has been pro-Israel received God’s blessing, otherwise, God’s curse was on him. As America blesses Israel, so God blesses America.
